Way to go Team Gushue ! I watched the final on Sunday intensely. All of Newfoundland and the rest of Canada will be behind you in Torino. Go for the gold boys!

Hey guys!

I have followed with bated breath (as every Newfoundlander and Labradorian has!) the progress you have made on the road to Torino. It is difficult with a 14 and a half hour time difference to stay on top of things, but was following the Telegram online across the miles. I have been providing an education to my colleagues all about curling. Aussies are not familiar with curling. It has been with much pride that I can share curling with them as they teach me all about cricket; especially when the curling I am sharing is the success of your rink.

I spent the last four years at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and even THEY were not too familiar with curling- so as they say here, "On ya, mate!" I'll be cheering from Australia- I can't say I will be rooting for you, because that statement has a whole different meaning in OZ!

Take care, guys- and great work! Enjoy this- you deserve every bit of it.

Cheers,

Jen

Congrats team Gushue:
Last evening watching your team win the olympic berth was the greatest moment in recent Newfoundland history. We laughed, we screamed, we cried, we had to close our eyes durning that last throw. Words can not express our pride and joy at the win. You have done us all proud and know that as you walk into the stadium, for the olympic opening, tears of pride and joy will be flowing freely. We will be at our TV's yelling and cheering you on in your olympic quest... Our hearts are with you..
God bless you all..
and kick butt. :-)

Way to guy Guys!!!!

Edward Brenton

Congratulations to you and the team for a very decisive victory, even though some teams and CBC didn't give you much of a chance.

I hope that you can go even further by winning the gold in Italy.

I wonder if your grandfather ever lived in Labrador City, if so I knew him well.

All the best, we are so proud.

Roy White

Congratulations to all of you, you have made Newfoundland & Labrador proud, Good Luck in Italy.
Job well done.

Beulah Strickland

Team Gushue,

As a Newfoundlander through and through I can't tell you how proud I am of the way you represent Newfoundland every time you get the chance. It is amazing that you guys will have the chance to represent our great country at the winter Olympics knowing you will have 500,000 Newfoundlanders on the edge of their seat with every rock you throw. As a die hard curling fan I have been following the team since you were ever so close to your first Cdn. Junior title and then the win the following year with of course the WORLD championship as well.

Great Job you curled amazing and were the best team this week. You deserve your success for all the hard work you put into your sport!!!

Paul Janes, C.A.

The Olympics. We don't have to be curling fans, or even sports fans, to appreciate this accomplishment. If we are fans of Newfoundland, then we should all be very proud of Brad and his team for how they represented us and will continue to represent us on sport's greatest stage!

Trent Skanes

Hi Brad,

It has been a while since we last spoke, but I wanted to be sure to send you a message to say congratulations on representing yourself and the province so well at the recent Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Your achievements are beyond words and now that you can add Olympian to your resume, that is something of which you should be very proud.

Watching your team over the last week was awesome to say the least. You could certainly see the chemistry and the fact that the team cared about each other on and off the ice. That is a major part of any winning team!

I will certainly continue to follow you as you get ready for Turin and when you arrive in Italy for the Olympics. Make sure you take time to enjoy the experience and continue to do what you are doing to be ready for your next challenge.

Also, congratulations on your engagement - that is great! Please also wish your mom all the best as she continues to battle against cancer. The way that you and your mom are supporting each other is great.

Take care and all the best. Congratulations to you and all of the team!

Trev

ps. I saw Natasha on a plane from St. John's to Halifax last week and she was pretty proud and excited as well.

Congrats to the Gushue rink. What a game, what a week, what a team!!!! You guys rock. Naturally, as Canadians, we always cheer for the red and white at the Olympic games but this time I'll be cheering that much harder. For such a young team (yes, that includes you too Russ), you all played with such poise and professionalism, you make us all very proud. Can't wait to watch you at the Olympics.

Hello Champ,
Congrulations on your winning and will be ready for the Winter Olympic. Proud to be a Newfoundlander, I am presently living in Quebec but I am from St. John's Newfoundland and am there to support your team. Was watching your game yesterday on the T.V. Good game and Bravo!

Congrats Brad, Mark, Jamie, Mike and yes Russ (I am sure you are screeched in by now, haha) this is an awesome accomplishment for your team and our home province of Newfoundland!! I was with you guys every shot yesterday and it couldn't of turned out any better!! Bring home the gold!! You have already beaten the best in the world so a gold medal will just be a bonus! Good luck!!

David Colbourne

Congratulations Lads, you guys were and are simply AWESOME!!! You fella's displayed that famous Newfie "HEART-N-GUTS", both of which were obviously evident in allowing you to win such a major competion against some of the world' top curlers. There are 3 of us Newfs on board a seismic vessel working off-shore Western Australia and we have been logging on to catch the results of all your games on the internet (no TSN). Your efforts have made all of us that much more prouder to be "Newfs"!!! We all feel what you guys have accomplished is one of the greatest athletic achievements in the history of provincial sports. And I am sure I speak for all the province in welcoming Russ Howard as the newest Newfoundlander...

Go get that Gold in Italy byes...

ALL 'da best,

RIck (CBS), Jeremy (Glovertown) and Neil (Bonavista)

p.s. Our prayers and thoughts are with Mrs. Gushue and the rest of the Gushue family during this obviously very difficult time... Thanx for your time...

Team Gushue, or is it Team Canada??

Congrats on the big win Sunday. Being in the US, I didn't get any coverage whatsoever, so having great reports from those people at the Telegram and VOCM made it very clear who was the dominant team. My hat is off to you all for playing so well over the week and coming out on top. Good luck in Torino, and I know you will do Canada proud.

Jamie, from day 1, you've had 2 fans in California. Here's to representing the crowd around the bay.

Take care guys.

Jason and Alyson Foote

To the whole team.

I am currently living in Halifax and saw the win... amazing accomplishment. I am from St.John's and have competed nationally in soccer over the years... I can definitely relate to the stress. Not only did you guys pull it off but you did it with great class and spirit. It is moments like what you gave the province last night that make my already "urge" to go home that much stronger.

A sincere congratulations and extra pat on the back for executing the win with so much class. You made allot of critics on the West Coast of Canada eat their words.

Bring home the Gold!

Damien Lee

To the Gushue Team,
Congratulations on a great week of curling and most of all on winning the right to represent Canada at the Winter Olympics in 2006. You have made all of Newfoundland and Labrador proud. I have been following your curling closely, Brad, ever since you were a student of mine at O'Donel High School. You can be sure that I am very happy for you and all the team. Best of luck in the future and bring home the gold for Canada.

Kelly House
St. John's, NL

Now you have to find Russ a job in Newfoundland before the Brier!!!!

Rod Harrington

Hey, team Canada! Way to go!

I may live in Ontario now, but St. John's Curling Club was where I curled for many years, and I still root for the Newfies when I'm watching curling on TV.

This whole week has been just awesome, and you guys curled the lights out! Congratulations, and enjoy this!

Brad, Mark, Russ, Jamie, Mike, and Toby, go get 'em in Italy!

Caroline Deans
former "Newf" and SJCC member

Way to go, it was a great showing from start to finish and good luck in Italy. Last but not least, I think that Mike Adam deserves the sportsman of the year award, truly a class act.

All the Best,
Jonathan Vezina

Go Team Canada Go!!!!!!!

Great week, great run. Russ's double peel in 10th was the key.

What a great addition to his already storied trophy shelf.

Best of luck guys.

Brad and Team

Just a note to say Congratulations on an outstanding job in Halifax. I was so proud of all of you - even though I am living in Whitehorse in the Yukon I watched and listed (when I had to) to the week's events. To say I am a proud Newfoundland is an understatement.

I moved here last year and landed myself a great job in the Premier's Office. I am another Newfoundlander who couldn't find work at home so I came to the next best thing to Newfoundland - the Yukon.

I just read the Evening Telegram on line and discovered that your mom was diagnosed with cancer in September. Please pass along my best wishes for a quick and speedy recovery to both your mom and dad. I know them quite well. You guys lived in Westminister when I did. Please tell them my prayers and thoughts are with them during this very difficult time.

Congratulation on a great job in Halifax. I was so happy and soooo proud!

Brad, I will be watching with great anticipation to the Olympics and wish you and your team all the best! You guys have made everybody very proud!

Hey guys!
Great week of curling! It was so exciting watching you guys play this past week and even more to see you win. Congratulations! You have done yourselves, Newfoundland, and Canada proud. You will be great representatives for Canada at the Olympics. Although I live in Winnipeg, my heart is always in Newfoundland. That goes the same when it comes to cheering for Newfoundlanders to do well in sport of other fields. I don't know you, but I cried as you received your Canada jackets. What a great opportunity for any Newfoundlander. Even colleagues here at work were cheering for you guys over their own Manitoban team. Seems like they didn't like Stoughton's comments two weeks ago any more the those of us from the east did. Enjoy your time in the spotlight. Can't wait to cheer for you in Italy.

Arlene

Dear Team Canada!

As I sat in my cozy family room yesterday afternoon on a rather cold, brisk afternoon in the Okanagan Valley, I was filled with pride that your Newfoundland team was the victor when the last rock was thrown in the finals.

My husband is from Manitoba and I am from Calvert, Southern Shore, originally. I even had my husband jumping up and down for my Newfie Team!!!!! I even garnered support from all my golfig friends around BC. They have great admiration for your team as a whole. Wish we all could have been down on George St. last evening to celebrate.

You all are a class act, and you are worthy representatives of our entire Country in February.

Barbara Kennedy (nee Whelan)

Dear Brad and team, sooooooooooooooooo proud of you,Russ that smile looks good on you,to all of you good luck at the olympics, and I will pray for your mom Brad,God Speed,

Guys,

Great run, great performance! It was sensational to watch you all week and look forward to each and every draw. Ducking out of work early to catch your games, or trying to get a score off the web, or through my phone. Words cannot describe how proud I am of what you have done and have yet to accomplish.

If all goes well I hope to meet up with you in Italy.

Cheers,

Jason Peckham

Congatulations to the Gushue team....Outstanding performance! I had the pleasure of first seeing/meeting you guys at Mile One Stadium two years ago (I was your bartender!). I hadn't any interest in curling
but after meeting you guys I haven't stopped watching. Needless to say I cried tears of pride and admiration yesterday, without a doubt the Gushue team will represent our Province and Country like no one else. Go get 'em b'ys!

Cheers, Jennifer Stamp

Congrats on your great games and all the best in the Olympics.

I have always played curling and have been watching it for years on TV but never have I been so elated and on the edge of my seat as I have been this week. I am so thrilled for you and your team. Russ Howard may have been a great addition to your team but Jamie set it up and Mark did clean up all week. You showed what playing as a team can do. It brought back memories when Middaugh and Glen played with Russ. When they were on the top of their game, they couldn't be beaten. Kudos to all!! and best of luck in Italy. I'll be glued to my TV.

Valerie Peddle

To Brad and entire team , you've come a long way in a short time. All the best in Torino, Italy in February. I know you guys will do well and if you bring home the GOLD medal, then that will be a bonus.

Hi Brad and the Team - God had that 1/4 inch. The angels just passed by and oops 1/4 inch out. Well all of us fans were lifted right out of our seats. Prayers were answered all across Canada. God bless your hearts and souls. I knew you had it from the beginning. It only took saying you had no chance. Your not from Newfoundland for nothing.

I want you to know that we could feel that there was more than just winning in the tears, at the end of your game. I will be thinking about your Mum in the next while and sending her positive vibes, as will a lot of us women. Hold it together and don't allow one negative thought to pass through your minds. You can do what you think you can do. You guys proved that to your Mum. Now Mum it's your turn. Lot of love and hugs and all the best in the Olympics. We want to see Brad's Dad and Brad's Mum there on the TV.

We'll be cheering hard. Karen Chrumka

Congratulations Brad to you and your excellent team on winning the Canadian gold last weekend. We are indeed so proud of your team! For those pessimists who say "Your dreams will never come true", you have indeed proved them wrong for this is something that you have been working hard towards for sometime, and with your determination you have succeeded! You and your dedicated team are a true inspiration for all of us out there who have always wanted to try something dear to our hearts, but have been afraid to for fear of failing. You have shown that nothing comes easily and there will be losses along the way. The main ingredient though in reaching your goal is to "keep trying and never give up" despite obstacles along the way. You are a winner Brad even if you had never won this Canadian title. I have never been a curling fan or even knew much about the game until I started watching the playoffs in Halifax. Now I am definitely a fan!

We will have only the best representation in Italy, as your team participates in the Winter Olympics. What a team of caring, hardworking and down-to-earth ambassadors you are. Canada is proud of all of you, but all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are beaming!!!

Good luck Brad and Team!

Debbie Andrews

Team Canada (what a nice ring), Brad, Mark, Russ, Jamie, Mike & Toby, congratulations on a great win and gaining the right to represent CANADA at the Olympic Games. What a feeling this must be! It certainly has made us proud to have Newfoundland and Labrador as the curling representative.

Having represented NL a few times at the Canadian Ladies' Curling Championships with Sue Anne Bartlett, and curled against Toby in mixed provincial playdowns (yes his team beat us) and am now living in Kingston, ON, I held my head and chest a little higher as I watched the trial games from NS at my present curling club here in Kingston. We know you will do us proud again in Torino - Good Luck and with the God Lord willing you will come home with the Gold, you are and always will be 2006 Olympians.

Trish & Bill
Kingston, ON

Always I have been proud of my heritage - Newfoundland came with me in my heart when I came to Greece to live. Now with great feeling of pride, I will be following you along in your Olympic Efforts, and feel confident that you will win. Newfoundlanders, so great at sportsmanship always WIN, whatever they do. We may even be able to catch some of the games, as we are awaiting confirmation of tickets.

The best of luck

My message to you is the only way to silence your critics, especially those on the mainland, is to do the best you can and hopefully bring home the gold. A medal placement would do, but for us here at home, you are already the canadian champs. Give er!

Hey Brad you did us proud. Now do us even prouder in the Oympics. Show in why Newfouldand is the rock. As you will rock the oympics in curling.

David

We've been following your career and couldn't be more proud. Curling is one of my favorite sports to watch. At times I feel as if I'm interacting with the sweepers as they guide the rock to it's rightful position, whether it be to act as a guard or a take out or that all important draw to the house. You are, at this moment in time, Canada's best. Relish it, then pickle it and take it to Italy, where we will share you with the entire world. Bring home the gold, but more importantly, bring to the game your soft-demeanor and good sportsmanship

Way to go guys. Although I will be cheering for all the Canadians who go to Torino I will be the most interested in the curling. We'll be watching every game here at our house for sure.
